Nick Lucena

American Pro Beach Volleyball player Nick Lucena is an AVP and FIVB Tour veteran who is currently ranked #3 on the AVP Tour behind fellow PMG clients Casey Patterson and Jake Gibb. In July of 2015, Nick partnered with Olympic Gold Medalist and friend Phil Dalhausser for AVP Tour and international volleyball events.

Nick and Phil began their AVP Tour careers together in 2003 and are back in perfect sync to make a run at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The dynamic duo recorded a second place finish in their first event together at the AVP Kingston Seattle Open in August of 2015. They followed up this impressive performance with a win at the AVP Tour’s biggest annual event, the Manhattan Beach Open.

Dating back to last season, Nick and Phil have appeared in 7 of the last 8 FIVB World Tour Gold Medal matches, topping the podium in 3 events. They also took home international Gold Medal victories at the FIVB Xiamen Open and Puerto Vallarta Open last fall in addition to a victory at the AVP Manhattan Beach Open.

A Florida native, Nick attended Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Sports Management. He began his AVP Tour career playing with Dalhausser in 2003. He won his first AVP title with Dalhausser in 2005 at the Austin Open. After parting ways with Dalhausser in 2006, Nick enjoyed success with a number of different partners including Mark Williams, Will Strickland, Sean Scott, Brad Keenan and Matt Fuerbringer. In 2011, Nick and Fuerbringer won the Silver Medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour helping the United States sweep the podium at the heralded international event.

In 2013, Nick partnered with Theo Brunner and made an impressive run through the AVP Tour circuit. They picked up a win at the Huntington Beach Open and finished the season with 5 straight top 3 finishes. After a stint with Ryan Doherty in 2014, Nick rejoined Brunner for a 4th place finish at the 2015 Beach World Championships and a 3rd place finish at the 2015 St. Petersburg Grand Slam.
