Robert Margalis Breaks American Record!
March 1, 2007

Robert Margalis broke the American Record tonight at the Florida Swimming Senior Championship in the 1,000y Freestyle. Robert swam an impressive time of 8:42.64. The previous record was set back in 2001 (8:44.11).

With his local swim team and parents supporting him, he proudly comments on the swim, I felt very confident during the swim. I went out hard and kept up a strong pace. I am very happy with my swim, especially since I don't swim the 1,000y often.

Robert is a 3-Time U.S. National Champion and 2003 Pan American Games Gold Medalist. He has held a spot of the U.S. World Championship Team for three years and received the Kiphuth Award in 2001.

Robert told us he was going after this one, so I wasn't surprised when someone who puts in his kind of training gets a big success. He's earned every bit of that American Record, says Matt Zimmer, director of promotions, TYR.

Robert broke the American Record in TYR's elite swimsuit technology, the Aqua Shift Tight. Aqua Shift features an exclusive Tripwire technology proven to reduce drag.
