Elaine has known from a very young age that she loves to race, and she loves to win. Swimming since she was just 4 years old, Elaine's competitive drive led her to the 2008 Olympic Games where she represented the United States and earned a Silver Medal as part of the 4x100 Relay.
Homeschooled until 8th grade in Lexington, KY and attending a small private high school, Elaine relied on the local club team to keep her swimming dreams alive. As the 2008 Olympic Games approached, she made the decision to graduate a year early and attend Stanford, one of the finest universities for academics and swimming, where she was awarded 2007 Outstanding Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year, 2007 NCAA Champion in the 200 Fly, 11-time All-American and two-time Pac-10 Champion.
Elaine qualified for the 2008 Olympic team by finishing first in the 200m fly and second in the 100m fly, proving to herself and others that her decisions paid off. Now training for the 2012 Olympic Games, Elaine has one more goal to fulfill, a Gold Medal.
Outside of swimming, this Classics and Art History major loves to explore the world’s cultures through travel, novels and cooking
